Superintendent Update

On Monday evening the Board conducted its regular monthly meeting.   Several topics were covered and the meeting took about half an hour.   The main items covered include the following:

          III.            Education
        a. Middle School Awards
Middle School awards were presented to a group of choir students for their excellence.  Also a presentation was given by the students who attended the Girls of Promise conference about robots.  They also received an award.  The final award was given to Mrs Green for 43 years of service to the School District.
          IV.            Business Items
a.   The following expenses over $5,000 were approved.  Edmentum Assessments for Plato Software, $9,999.99; Educators Book Depository for text books, $5,184.59;  Jeff’s Automotive Machine Shop for bus engine, $5,450.00;  Satterfield Oil for fuel, $5,016.14;  Video Reality for smart boards @ elem., $19,641.80.
b.   Athletic Awards handbook update
A list of updated athletic awards was made to our Coaches Handbook.  This was to reflect our recent award activities for our student athletes.
c.  Two student transfers into the district were accepted from Conway.
d.  The Board approved the recommended expenditure of the Arkansas School Recognition and Rewards Program.  This was awarded to the Elementary School because it was one of the top 20% of in Arkansas   The $18,164.05 will be spend on five smart boards and accessories. 
             V.            Personnel
a.   Employment/Resignations
                                                           i.         Spec. Ed Teacher:-  Sarah Keathley was employed and will be working in the high school.
                                                         ii.         Elem. Para Pro:- Cindy Fowler was employed to work in the area of special education at the elementary school.
                                                       iii.         Lunch Room Cook:- Christie Minnie of Cabot was employed to work in the middle school lunch room as a cook.
                                                        iv.         Resignations were accepted from Daniel Addie and Tara Francis.
